Stillwater Ends Lumberjack Days Amid Festival Investigation

The City of Stillwater is ending Lumberjack Days after recent financial problems with the event.

The festival has been held in Stillwater for decades, bringing thousands of visitors for a few days each summer. But, in recent years the festival has been met with financial troubles. Festival organizer Dave Eckberg is under investigation for writing $38,000 worth of bad checks to vendors.

Tuesday night, the Stillwater City Council decided to end the city's contract with the Lumberjack Days Festival Association with a unanimous 5-0 decision.

A local businessman says he would like to start another summer festival in Lumberjack Days place, but so far there has been no official progress with the city.
